I mostly make abstract work using found materials and anything I can get my hands on. Various inks, books, magazines, yacht varnish, PVA, print, tape, packaging, gloss, and other things. I have an interest in symbols, eighties television personalities, secret societies, 20th Century footballers, Tunnocks wrappers, and general pop culture ephemera. With painting especially, I tend to have several on the go at a time, and often they bleed into one another. Once I commit to a mark, it's made. Sometimes this means a piece spends a long time going backwards before it goes forwards, but that's okay. My main interest is that within one painting, there are these 'moments' that just work. Getting to a point where they all work together is the tricky bit.
